(www.furtenbachadventures.com)   Addressing the press at Parliament on Wednesday, LOP said: “ I personally believe this new committee can take over. They have done most of the work. I talked to Hon. Katuntu last week and he said they would be winding up within two weeks. The two weeks has passed now.” She said she wants to meet the Speaker of Parliament, the Rt. Hon. Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga over the matter. Recently, Kadaga made it clear that as head of Parliament, she had all powers to extend the term of office of Katuntu and his team to enable them complete the investigations into the closure of the seven commercial banks. COSASE is investigating circumstances under which the banks, Crane Bank, Teffe, National Bank of Commerce, Greenland Bank, Gold Trust Bank and The Cooperatives Bank were closed.

Makindye East MP, Allan Ssewanya, a new member of the committee said: “Some of us are new in the committee. We don’t want to be in brush with the law, but unfortunately we as new members shall not allow to be chaired by the old chairperson, we need to be chaired by our new committee chair, Mubarak Munyagwa.”

“We are worried as new members that our leadership is not yet streamlined. It’s important that the LOP meets the Rt. Hon. Speaker immediately. “The baganda have a say that fats are eaten when still hot and fresh,” he said. The press conference was also attended by the Mukono Municipality MP Betty Nambooze and Lubaga North MP, Moses Kasibante.
