Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago has clashed with Uganda Police Force over the death of celebrated City Lawyer Roland Mugisha who was allegedly attacked by hit men (according to Lord mayor)as his gate in Najeera as he returned home in the wee hours of the morning and clobbered him and died later at Mulago Hospital where he was rushed by his wife.
After receiving the saddening news, Lukwago rushed to his Facebook page to eulogize his former work mate while criticizing police for not doing their work of providing security. “I’m saddened to learn that the spiraling spate of criminality gripping the country has claimed the life of my comrade, MUGISHA RONALD who practiced with our Law firm for some good time. He is reported to have been killed by iron bar hit men in Najeera. We shall always miss you our brother Ronald. May your soul rest in eternal peace,” he wrote.
However, just few minutes later, the Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire came up and refuted Mr. Lukwago’s allegations of saying that the lawyer was killed by iron hit men.
“The Late Mugisha Ronald passed on today 21st June 2018 during morning hours after falling down as he embarked from a bar drunk. He was rushed immediately to Mulago casualty ward by his wife where he later passed on. Najjera area has not registered any case of such criminality.
Disregard the social media lies being peddled by the Lord Mayor to discredit the efforts by the Kampala Metropolitan Police to secure the lives of people, #RIPMugisha,” said Owoyesigire in adocument shared on police social media platforms this morning.
But Lord Mayor Lukwago has demanded that police should release a postmortem report to family members and friends to clearly know what killed counsel Mugisha who was found almost dead at his gate and was rushed to Hospital where he died later. For now we are yet to tell who is telling the truth between police and Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago until the Hospital releases a post mortem report. RIP.
