Lord Mayor Lukwago Promises Heaven On Earth After Swearing In As FDC Deputy President

Kampala, Najjanankumbi: Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago has been inaugurated as new Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party’s Deputy President replacing Joyce Nabbosa Ssebugwawo who crossed to ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) after being appointed by Museveni as the Minister of State for ICT.

On an event presided over by the party spokesperson Hon. Ibrahim Semujju Nganda, it was revealed that the NEC meetings that sat on 13th August and 10th September 2021 respectively approved the appointment of Lukwago as acting Deputy President Buganda Region and also Soroti District Woman MP Hon. Anna Adeke Ebaju as acting deputy president, Eastern Uganda, replacing Hon. Taaka Kevina.

In the same vein, the NEC meeting approved Hon. Hassan Kaps Fungaroo acting secretary for mobilisation replacing Ms. Ingrid Turinawe Kamateneti; Mr. Dan Muwonge was approved as acting secretary for the presidency replacing Mr. Ismail Ssempijja and Hajji Obedi Kamulegeya (Jr) was approved as acting secretary of culture, ethics and religious affairs replacing Sheikh Muhammad Hood Katuramu.

Nganda also noted that the NEC approved deputy secretaries appointed by the FDC president including Hon. Steven Ochola, Serere district, LC5 chairman as Deputy Secretary mobilisation Eastern region, Dr. George Okello Ekwaro deputy secretary mobilisation, Northern Uganda, Ms. Susan Nanyonjo, deputy secretary culture, religion and ethics.

Others are; Mr.Hamis Walusimbi Musoke, deputy secretary of environment and natural resources, Mr. Moses Okwera Mugisha, deputy secretary agriculture, Hon. Florence Kabugho, woman MP Kasese, deputy secretary post-conflict and reconstruction and Mr. Makhoha Sam, deputy secretary international and regional affairs.

”These changes are intended at strengthening the party,” said Nganda before adding that those leaders that were not available today for the swearing-in would be sworn in at the next NEC sitting.

After taking the oath, Lukwago promised to change the face of FDC during his tenure as the Deputy President in charge of the Central region.

“I promise to serve to the best of my abilities and capacity, I treasure the mission and vision of the party. I respect all the members who have put the party where it is, I promise to make my humble contribution to elevate this party” Lukwago said.

Lukwago said that the principles of FDC will be his guiding tool and that he has confidence that he will be able to achieve a lot with FDC.

The Lord Mayor joined FDC during the run-up to the recently held elections in July 2020 from DP following disagreements.
