It must be a panicky moment for Presidency Minister Milly Babirye Babalanda as she continues to be exposed over corruption and nepotism.
Babirye who has been in news for the last couple of days over a controversial and juicy budget for the burial of fallen Speaker Jacob Oulanyah, is now in the spotlight for gifting several RDC jobs to her relatives and tribemates.
In the latest Resident District/City Commissioners, (RDCs/RCCs), Babalanda is said to have appointed three family members including; husband, brother and daughter.
Their names are; George Magunda, Naome Nakawala and Peter Mawerere.
Magunda is said to be Babalanda’s brother and has been appointed RDC for Budaka in the reshuffles. Nakawala said to be her daughter is now the deputy RCC for Mbale where as Mawerere, said to be Nakawala’s father is the new deputy RDC for Kayunga District.
On top of the above, dozens of appointed RDCs are said to be from the Busoga sub/region where she comes from.
The above attracted mega criticism from concerned Ugandans including Mr.Andrew Irumba Katusabe who usually communicates via his socials with the slogan ‘I Speak What Others Fear‘.
Irumba via his Facebook page noted that some of the dropped RDCs & D/RDCs lost jobs because they failed to raise the bribe allegedly asked by either Minister Babalanda or her office.
Mr Irumba a celebrated Investigative journalist also revealed that some RDCs had informed him that they were dropped because they are not Basoga.
“The other issue they raise is that Babalanda dropped many of them to pave way for her tribemates and relatives. That she recruited quite a number of her relatives and close networks.Ssabalwanyi, how if you probe this!?” Irumba noted.
Irumba’s revelation was swiftly backed up by Kasambya County Member of Parliament Hon. David Kabanda who via his Twitter handle exposed the Minister thus; “Unfortunately, many RDCs were dropped because they could not afford hefty bribes asked by officials in the ministry of the presidency under Milly Babalanda. Understand it was required by each to pay 20M to retain their jobs. Sad!”
