Kampala: Police have arrested Father Dominic Alinga, a key suspect in connection with the murder of Ngorok John Bosco, a 30-year-old employee of Uganda Revenue Authority’s Domestic Tax Department.

According to police, the incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday morning, along the road from Kitooro to Entebbe International Airport.

Police Deputy Spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire confirmed the incident saying the suspect was apprehended in Tororo, where he had fled following the incident.

“We have arrested Father Dominic Alinga and we are conducting further investigations. Investigations into Alinga’s connection with the murder of Ngorok are still ongoing. Once complete, the police will determine whether to arraign him before the court” Owoyesigyire said

According to reports, police received a distress call at approximately 1:50 AM, alerting them to the suspected murder. Upon arrival, they found Ngorok with severe stab wounds to his neck and head. Despite being rushed to the nearby Grade B hospital, Ngorok was pronounced dead minutes later. Ngorok is said to have succumbed to his injuries due to excessive bleeding.

Following the tragic incident police immediately launched an investigation, which led to the arrest of Dominic Alinga, a priest at the Catholic parish church of Irir in Nakapiripirit.

According to a voice recording circulating on social media, Fr Alinga is accused of stabbing Ngorok during a misunderstanding over money while they were driving in Ngorok’s Toyota Vitz, registration number UBM 644S.

Alinga had previously been suspended from his duties by the church bishop over allegations of stealing offertory funds amounting to six million Ugandan shillings.

Sources further revealed that Father Alinga and Ngorok have been long time friends who maintained their friendship years since school.
