Manchester United will hope to build on their Champions League win over Villarreal when they face Chelsea today.
Indeed, while it’s hard to expect a massive turnaround in form – particularly against elite sides – in such a short space of time, caretaker boss Michael Carrick will surely keep things the same and revert to a slightly more defensive approach in a bid to avoid further embarrassment.
United, ahead of the likely appointment of Ralf Ragngick, need to remain competitive in the biggest games. At least then, they can start to build a platform from which to build going forward.
The worst thing to happen on Sunday would be to crumble to another thumping as they did against Manchester City and Liverpool recently.
