Police in Lyantonde are investigating the death of three people from the same family who were shot dead on Thursday, September 5, night at around 2am.
The deceased are Justus Sendege, 27, his wife Evelyn Ekyampayire and a cousin Robert Mubiru, 40 years all residents of Nakasozi village Kinuka Sub County in Lyantonde district
Preliminary police investigations indicate that the deceased were in a house which doubles as shop watching TV at the time the gunmen struck.
Paul Kangave, the Southern Region Police Spokesperson said, three cartridges of AK47 were recovered at the scene of crime and investigations into the killings have started.
“We visited the scene as police and recovered three cartridges of an AK47 rifle. We picked the bodies and taken them to Lyantonde hospital. The motive of the assailants is yet to be established as we continue to investigate,” Kangave said.
Robert Luyimba, one of the neighbours said that they were attracted by gunshots and people crying for help.
Francis Lubinga another resident says that police should increase on the security patrols in the area.
This comes at a time when two people, including a female Rwandan national were shot dead by unknown assailants along the Kampala-Entebbe Expressway on Thursday night.
The two victims identified as Florence Maya Kamukazi and Joshua Ruhegyera Nteyireho were traveling in a Toyota Prado registration number UAW 534B along Nambigirwa bridge above an expansive swamp.
