Just two minutes later, Kyetume leveled through Yusuf Ssaka’s effort but Swalib Bebe restored the lead once in the 58th minute with a stunning strike before Wuol Makueth netted the third in the 67th minute to ensure the victory for the Ankole Lions.

Debutant Henry Kitengenyi was named Pilsner man of the match after a solid performance to help his side secure the three points at Kakyeka stadium.

However, unlike last season when Mbarara city displayed a spectacular performance, this campaign has so far been complicated for the Western Uganda side club and this was their second win of the season having picked the first one against the Hoima newly promoted club Kitara FC a game that ended 1-0.

The Ankole Lions are now at 10points in the 13th position on the 16 teams table log at the same points with BUL FC as the fight to regain their form hopefully starts with this win.

Elsewhere, Police FC salvaged a point away from Bright Stars in a 2-2 stalemate. Brian Muluuli’s brace was enough to secure a point for the corps having been down two times.

Samuel Ssekamatte netted in the 13th minute to put Bright Stars in the lead but Muluuli leveled matters in the 33rd minute before the hosts got the second goal and Muluuli slotted home a late equalizer for the visitors to hand them a point.
