Men Asked To Allow Wives Go For Outings

Sheema: Men who always set strict regulations for their wives by refusing them to go for outings have been advised to stop that habit.

This advice came up during a  three-day field trip within Kampala and Entebbe in which several women  from Bugongi Town Council participated. The women visited several places like the Zoo in Entebbe, Entebbe International Airport, Lake Victoria, Naluyima’s Farm among others. Mataari Katungye, the chairman Bugongi town council, asked men to always give their women opportunities to  hang out with friends, especially when they are going for constructive outings which he believes can help them to develop their families. Agatha Kyankaaga, the Woman chairperson Bugongi town council, said that “Our aim of going to Kampala was to learn new things such that we can raise the standards of ourselves and to learn new things personally.”

She added that “We saw nice looking girls and boys at Entebbe airport which gave us courage to also educate our children  such that they can be like those we saw at the airport.” Nickson Tugume Bandiho, the sponsor of the trip, asked women to put in practice what they learnt from Kampala, especially to improving  their farming skills. “I also ask you to teach those who didn’t get a chance to visit these places. I promise that whoever puts in practice what she has learnt, I will help her financially. No woman in Sheema South won’t reach in Kampala if I’m still alive, ” Bandiho promised.

Agnes Atuhaire, the publicity secretary for Bugongi Town Council, thanked Bandiho for sponsoring the trip, saying that if it wasn’t for him, she would have died without ever knowing the beauty of Uganda and visiting the magnificent places they visited. The women ended their field trip at Namugongo Catholic Shrine, where they prayed for God’s blessings.
