Kampala: The latest landing on our desk indicates that today morning fire gutted Ministry of Agriculture, Animal industry and Fisheries’ stores in Wandegeya.
It’s said that stores located next to Ministry of Public Service contained among others drugs, chemicals, pesticides, animal sperms and fridges, most of which have been smashed by fire.
We have also learnt that Police’s fire Brigade rushed to the scene and managed to put out the flames.
Briefing the media shortly after the incident, Ministry’s mouthpiece Charlotte Kemigyisha said, “Whereas we are yet to establish the cause of the fire, we thank (the Police) for the prompt response in swiftly bringing this under control.”
It’s reported that this fire crept from nearby burning trash before caching facility.
The Directorate of Police Fire Prevention and Rescue Services some time back revealed that Ugandans lose over UGX30b each year due to fires.
