The Ministry of Health is currently upgrading Mukono Health Centre IV, such that it can be elevated to the status of handling COVID-19 and other specialised cases.

The move comes after officials from the Ministry of Health observed that since it is strategically located the Jinja-Kampala highway, the Health Centre can handle cases from as far as Jinja and the entire eastern Uganda region if it is upgraded to referral status.

Mukono Health Centre IV being upgraded

On Thursday July 02,2020, a team from the Ministry of Health led by Hon. Min. Jane Ruth Aceng, inspect  the ongoing works at Mukono HC IV, with intent to assess the progress of the project.

According to Health Ministry officials, the facility is being elevated to a hospital status, such that it can handle cases that require specialised and or advanced medical attention.

As a result of the very many people the facility serves, infrastructural development at Mukono HC IV will progress to fit the growing needs for health services for the people of Mukono, Buikwe and neighbouring districts, especially during this COVID-19 crisis, which has limited access to health facilities as a result of the limitation of public transport means.
