The Minister for Information Communication Technology (ICT) and National Guidance Frank Kagyigi Tumwebaze is some one to closely watch cum 2021 elections now that he has decided to emulate his master president Yoweri Museveni from politics, eating habits, standing and walking postures to cattle farming of late!
It should be noted that president Museveni is one of the prominent livestock farmers in Uganda, with a huge ranches in Kisozi, Gomba district and Rwakitura Kiruhura District.
Actually, president Museveni has often encouraged Ugandans to engage in livestock farming and as a way of leading by example, he usually posts pictures of him grazing his cattle on his social media platforms.
As away of attracting other Ugandans to emulate him, he has actually hosted several VIPs including key opposition figures at his ranches in Kisozi and Kiruhura for up and close contact with his live stock in abid to encourage them to do the same.
Indeed pictures of him grazing cattle with the First Lady Janet Kataha Museveni and opposition heavy weight Anita Among this week flooded the social media, in which they were seen both touring the ranch in Kisozi as they grazed the cattle.
However, after picking a leaf from his boss, the ever eloquent and flamboyant Minister Frank Tumwebaze also took off time to graze his cattle at his farm in Kamwenge district this weekend.
But unlike most livestock farmers who rear mixed or foreign breeds, Tumwebaze, just like his mentor, is mainly rearing the indigenous Ankole long-horned cattle.
Spy Uganda has learnt that at times Tumwebaze also invites his close friends, among them government officials, to tour his farm and interact with him as he grazes his cattle.
However, one of his close followers recently got concerned about the way Tumwebaze is emulating president Museveni and seemed to get worried.
His follower, only identified as Ivaney, wrote thus on social media; “You man!!! You’ve also started imitating President Museveni. Your days in that office are numbered. Do you remember what happened to Prof. Gilbert Bukenya when he started, talking and acting like M7? When he created another statehouse in his Kakiri home? Sorry Frank… President M7 will sack you soonest unless you stay in your lane.”
However, Tumwebaze, as calm as he has always been, replied Ivaney thus; “At the age of 5, I started my daily activity of grazing/herding cows. So then the imitation must have started early. Anyhow, This is not done as a show but a livelihood my brother. My education, my survival & for my family as well as whole clan have been supported by nothing else but these cows since time immemorial. Just for your information!”
Well, we at Spy Uganda wish Honourable Tumwebaze all the best in his endeavours at cattle farming…..but…..but…..if only the writer could also have one long-horned to graze with his goats….
