The Minister for Gender, Labour and Social Development has joined the rest of Ugandans in mourning fallen legendary journalist Francis Mutazindwa, who passed away on Saturday night.
The Media fraternity in Uganda learnt about Mutanzidwa’s death shortly after he had breathed his last at a health facility in Kampala, where he had been bedridden for days, battling with pneumonia.
A few hours after learning about his death, Minister Tumwebaze tweeted thus; “Very sad to learn about the death of Mr Francis Mutazindwa an accomplished journalism professional. I met him at @radiowestug in our early days of student political activism while at @MbararaUST. He was a calm & an amiable gentleman at peace with everyone. May he #RIP.”
Several other Ugandans including Bishop Sheldon Mwesigwa of Ankole Diocese poured in their eulogies as they paid tribute to Mutazindwa, who was an icon amongst the Ugandan media fraternity.
Bishop Mwesigwa tweeted; “Hello brethren sad news Francis Mutazindwa who has been the Station manager Revival Radio has passed away today Sunday 7th June 2020 at about 1 15pm at Kampala Hospital. May his soul rest in eternal peace.”
But prior to his demise, Mutazindwa had served at various media houses in senior positions. A few years ago he was the business manager at Vision Group and later he worked as Managing Editor at the Red Pepper before he left to attend to his personal businesses.
Burial arrangements will be communicated in our subsequent reports but here below are more messages from Ugandans mourning Mutazindwa .
