Women in Uganda have called on Government to consider increasing funds provided to the Uganda Entrepreneurship Fund among other financial enhancing programs for women in the country.
This was revealed at a press conference on Tuesday in Kampala while announcing the upcoming women’s conference slated for this Saturday in Kampala.
According to the State Minister for Youth and Children Affairs Minister, Florence Nakiwala Kiyingi, progress is being registered in the development and participation of women in leadership, entrepreneurship among others, hence the need to increase funds into programs that will continue to drive Ugandan women out of poverty.
She said only UGX33.4BN has been dispersed out of the total 6072 women projects making up 89819 of the main beneficiaries.
However, Rev. Con. Diana Mirembe Nkesiga the patron, Women World Network challenged the communities in Uganda to ensure that they empower women since they are key driver to national and family growth.
