Controversial South Sudan tycoon Lawrence Lual Malong Jnr who was reported missing a few days ago has been confirmed to have been arrested by Internal Security Organisation (ISO) and that he is now in their custody on reports of selling fake gold.
It is reported that ISO Director General Kaka Bagyenda on Friday confirmed that Mr. Yor was under their custody and assisting in investigations and he could have been arrested over alleged criminal activities such as counterfeit gold scams.
“Malong Junior is being held as a person of interest in the ongoing investigations and I can confirm that indeed we have him. In due time you will be informed of the charges against him,” Mr. Bagyenda said.
Reports further indicate that Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire as well as Brigadier Richard Karemire, the spokesperson of the Uganda People’s Defence Force both previously denied claims of Mr. Yor being in their custody.
ISO is the Uganda government’s counter intelligence agency responsible for providing national security intelligence to Uganda’s policy makers. It also engages in covert activities at the request of the President of Uganda
