Kampala: The cumulative COVID-19 cases of Ugandans have today increased to 2524 after Ministry of Health confirmed 98 new cases.
The breakdown of the ninety-eight (98) new COVID-19 cases is: Contacts and Alerts (92): Kampala -65, Moroto – 8, Wakiso -6, Mbale 4, Gulu- 3, Adjumani – 2, Arua- 1, Kotido- 1, Pader 1, Tororo-1 Truck drivers (3) from different points of Entry: Mpondwe -2 and Malaba Returnees (2): 1 from South Sudan, 1 from South Africa Health worker (1): Adjumani
In the same vein, Uganda recorded 1 COVID-19 death today who is a male aged 27 years old and a resident of Mengo, Kampala, bringing total cumulative number of COVID-19 deaths to 26.
Meanwhile, three (3) foreign truck drivers (2 Kenyans and 1 Tanzanian) tested positive for COVID-19 at different points of entry and were not permitted to enter the country.
Ministry also tested 1,667 samples from points of entry and 2,565 samples from alerts and contacts rising total number of samples tested the whole day to 4,232 which totals to 359,289 as the cumulative COVID-19 samples tested to-date since outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic in Uganda.
These come after Ministry of health has declared that Mulago National Referral Hospital has been closed as a COVID-19 sample collection site for all individuals.
Through its twitter handle, Ministry has revealed that Mulago NRH will remain an isolation and COVID-19 Treatment Unit ONLY for all patients who have been confirmed for COVID-19.
Other sections of Mulago National Referral Hospital (Upper Mulago) remain open to the public to ensure diagnosis and treatment of other medical conditions. #STAYSAFEUG
