Allergic to criminality, operatives from the State House Anti-Corruption Unit (SH-ACU) headed by Col Edith Nakalema have today caused the arraignment of the most feared City court bailiff, Moses Kirunda before Makindye court where he was charged with murder and remanded to Kitalya prison until 1st September 2021.
Kirunda is also the same guy who commanded to the demolition of Ndeeba Church recently.
According to reports, Kirunda connived with Maj. Nelson Kyatuka, an Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) soldier attached to the Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence (CMI), and a police officer yet to be identified, to murder businessman, Magidu Mugwanya, at Nateete in Kampala, on July 14 2020. According to Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire, troubled Kirunda denied shooting Mugwanya in his statement but put it on Maj Kyatuka who has since been charged with one count of murder and two counts of failure to protect war materials in the Makindye-based court-martial which he denied before being remanded to Makindye Military Police Barracks until August 25.
Genesis Of Incident
According to eye-witnesses, it all started when Mugwanya parked his car on the roadside after seeing a woman crying, seeking help as she was being dragged by three men into a car at night.
Mugwanya reportedly moved out of his car to help the woman, but one of the three men shot him in the chest, despite identifying himself and raising his hands.
He died on the spot and the suspects fled the scene. During police investigations, two pistol cartridges were recovered from the scene of the crime.
Mugwanya, 43, was running a home interiors shop in Equatorial Mall in Kampala and a resident of Kibumbiro B zone, Busega parish, in Rubaga division, Kampala.
