Entebbe: Godfrey Wamala aka Troy, who was convicted of manslaughter over the death of fallen star singer Moses Ssekibogo Nakitinje commonly known as Mowzey Radio, has been sentenced to 14 years in jail.

Wamala was on Monday found guilty of manslaughter and not murder, whic would have atracted death sentence.

Today Justice Jane Francis Abodo sentenced him to 14 years in jail ending years of investigations.

In her judgment at Entebbe High court, Justice Abodo noted that prosecution failed to prove to court beyond reasonable doubt that Wamala killed ‘ Mowzey.

She, however, said that court conquers with prosecution that the accused person participated in the brawl that ended the artist’s life.

Justice Abodo noted that prosecution didn’t at any moment in its submission connect Wamala to the killing despite being part of the bar brawl.

On Thursday Justice Abodo said that Wamala will spend 13 years, three months and four days in jail because he has already served one year, eight months and 26 days at Kigo Prison.

According to Justice Abodo, Wamala did not have malice aforethought to kill Mowzey despite the fact that he was present at the scene of crime.

Defence Lawyer Leonard Kasibante also argued that the convict was a first-time offender.

However, Kasibante vowed to appeal against the sentence, saying it was unwarranted, since prosecution failed to link his client to Radio’s murder.

Prosecution argued that between January 22nd and 1st October 2018, Wamala while at De Bar, a popular hangout in Entebbe town engaged in a brawl with Mowzey that ended his life.

Several musicians, among them Douglas Mayanja alias Weasel were in court and welcomed the sentence.

“This will help several other people learn that it is not normal to fight within bars and kill other people,” Mayanja said.
