Kampala: The trial of Kyadondo East Member of Parliament Robert Kyagulanyi and others in a case in which they are accused of allegedly staging unlawful protests against the OTT tax has hit a snag.

Bobi Wine and his co-accused had been ordered by Buganda Road Court to appear on September 17, 2019 for the trial of their case but the singer turned politician didn’t show up. His co-accused also snubbed court.

The ghetto gladiator was to appear in court for the trial but he didn’t appear as expected and instead sent his lawyers with excuses that he was on official duties in the neighbouring country Kenya.
Bobi Wine is accused together with David Lule who is a DJ, Julius Katongole a student, Fred Nyanzi, a brother of Bobi Wine, and Edward Sebufu aka Eddy Mutwe, a barber.

The state attorney had brought in four witnesses to pin Bobi Wine and his co-accused but they were nowhere to be seen, which left the magistrate with no option but to adjourn the matter.

The trial magistrate Ms Joan Achaa adjourned the matter to October 28 for another hearing.

Prosecution alleges that Bobi alongside four others on July 11, 2018, at City Square in Kampala District, disobeyed Sections 5 and 10 of the Public Order Management Act 2013 by holding a public meeting without giving notice to any authorized security officer, holding a public meeting without adhering to the required criteria and refusing to cooperate with the police.
