Kampala: Buganda Road Grade One Magistrate Doreen Olga Karungi has released on bail Kawempe North Legislator Hon Muhammad Ssegirinya over detoriating health.
Ssegirinya was earlier on this year released on bail by Masaka High court alongside Makindye East Member of Parliament Hon Allan Sewanyana, but both were later rearrested and remanded.
While granting him bail today, the magistrate ordered Ssegirinya to pay cash of 1 million shillings, while each of his two sureties has been ordered to sign a non-cash bond of 10 million shillings.
After being informed that the investigations in the matter are complete, the Magistrate fixed the matter for hearing on 22nd December 2021.
The two NUP legislators were remanded at Kigo government prison over a couple of charges including; attempted murder, terrorism, murder, abetting terrorism all relating to previous Masaka murders that left over 30 dead.
Meanwhile, Ssegirinya has been on another remand over inciting violence using his Facebook page in 2020.
The legislator allegedly posted that he was going to stage a resistance worse than that of the 1994 Rwanda Genocide that left over 800,000 dead most of them being Tutsi.
