‘MP Zaake In Stable Health Condition’- Police Says After Denying Bobi Wine Access To Naguru Hospital

By Spy Reporter

The Uganda Police have revealed  that Mityana Municipality Member of Parliament Francis Zaake, who is currently hospitalised at Naguru Hospital, is currently in stable health condition.

Zaake was rushed to hospital on Thursday after allegedly being tortured while in detention, following his arrest over allegations that he was distributing food during the Coronavirus lockdown, something President Yoweri Museveni prohibited.

Efforts by Kyadondo East Member of Parliament Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine to visit Zaake were however frustrated, after the police and army  denied him access to Naguru hospital.

However, a few people who have managed to see Zaake in hospital where he is heavily guarded,  contend that the legislator’s health condition is worrying, and he told the lawyers that he was severely tortured.

Uganda Police (UPF) have dispelled rumor surrounding the health condition of Mityana Municipality Francis Zaake, saying the legislator is in stable condition.

Zaake was arrested from his residence in Mityana on 19th April 2020 having been found distributing food to the people in disregard of government directives in the fight against the deadly Coronavirus disease.

According to a statement from the Criminal Investigations Department, Hon. Zaake was detained on allegations of doing a negligent act likely to spread an infection of disease contrary to Section 171 of the Penal Code Act , and disobedience of lawful orders contrary to section 117 of the same act.

CID contends that investigations upon Zaake’s arrest and charges were sanctioned by the DPP.

However, at the time he was going to be produced to court, Zaake complained of ill-health which prompted police to have him examined and later driven to Naguru Hospital for medical attention.

Police says the examination was conducted by Uganda Police medical team in presence of his lawyers, personal doctor and his wife.

ASP Twiine Mansio Charles, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) Criminal Investigations Directorate,  said both sides agreed that Zaake should be given treatment which he is currently receiving at  Naguru Hospital.
