Kampala: Telecom giant MTN Uganda has donated Ugx 50millon towards the launch of the Kyabazinga Girl Child Programme, an initiative aimed at supporting the girl child and improving the lives of youth in the Country.
The launch of this initiative will be held on Saturday 22nd, June 2019 at a special royal banquet at Igenge Palace in Bugenbe. His Majesty the Kyabazinga of Busoga William Gabula Nadiope IV will honour, bless Quinn Abenakyo’s efforts and start off the Obwakyabazinga Bwa Busoga CSR Programmes.
MTN Uganda CEO Wim Vanhelleputte, accompanied the General Manager Corporate Services Enid Edroma while handing over the Ugx 50 million cheque to Busoga Kingdom’s Second Deputy Prime Minister (Katukiro) Owek. Osman Ahmed Noor at the MTN Uganda headquarters in Kampala.
Wim Vanhelleputte lauded the Kyabazinga for being a model leader, a unifying factor to the Busoga people and for his efforts at being keen to prosper the lives of the youth in his Kingdom. He acknowledged the gaps in harnessing the youth potential to spur development in the region.
“Despite being located in Jinja, the industrial hub of Uganda, we recognize that Busoga Kingdom is not without its challenges. The youth, who form the greater percentage of the population face challenges with unemployment with the brunt of the disadvantages adversely affecting the girl child. We applaud the efforts of HRH the Kyabazinga towards tackling this bottleneck to development of the region. We especially applaud the reigning Miss World-Africa, Ms. Quinn Abenakyo for championing the cause of the girl child and the youth in the region. We pledge our support,” Wim said.
Busoga Kingdom’s Second Deputy Prime Minister Owek. Osman Ahmed Noor delivered special regards from the Kyabazinga of Busoga William Gabula Nadiope IV and thanked MTN Uganda for its support towards the girl child initiative. He also called upon all Ugandans to come and support this noble cause. (https://publishedreporter.com)
