MUK Scoops Women’s Cup 2019, Nababi Wins MVP Award

Kampala: Makerere University women football team is the proud winners of the FUFA Women’s Cup 2019 tournament.

Team Makerere lifted the trophy on Saturday after beating Lady Doves 2-0 in the finals held at Lugogo Startimes stadium. Jemima Twesigye  put Makerere in the lead 40 minutes into first half with a well converted penalty kick, which was awarded to Catherine Nagady against the Lady Doves. They later got an own goal from Lady Doves’ defender Gladys Nakitto in the second half, which spurred them to victory.

Aminah Nababi scooped the MVP gong

Makerere University became the third team to win women’s cup following UCU Lady Cardinals (2018 )and inaugural winners Olila High School(2017). Meanwhile, Aminah Nababi, a lethal left-footed who plays for Makerere,  stunned fans at the stadium after exhibiting  extraordinary talent, which saw her win the Most Valuable Player’s gong (MVP), plus Shs100,000 cash prize from from FUFA. After scooping the gong, Nababi said that  “I am happy for this win; people out there did not believe in us, but  I thank God we managed to beat a team that was on two finals (Lady Doves). (https://buckheadpaws.com/) I heard them (people) saying that we going to lose but we proved them wrong.”  She added that “As MVP of women’s cup I also desire to be called on national team, and I am working for that.”

Golden glove- Vanessa karungi (She-Corporates) Shs100000/-
