Mukamanayamba Gulu Branch Closed Over Pathetic Hygiene, Fake Production

By Spy Uganda

Gulu: According to our sources from the Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS), Mukamanayamba branch in Nothern Uganda’s Gulu District has been closed due to its poor & illegal production standards and pathetic hygiene, a health threat to Ugandans.

Sources further revealed that Mukamanayamba Gulu branch was found manufacturing drinks under unhygienic conditions, products manufactured in Gulu found labelled as ‘manufactured in Kabwohe’. Gulu facility has no certification permit and products manufactured in Gulu are illegally bearing the Qmark and that’s why their operations have been suspended.

It should be noted that weeks ago two officials from UNBS were remanded for allegedly soliciting and receiving a bribe of Shs 3 million from Mukamanayamba among these including Shaka Vitalis, an inspector and Norman Mwamula Methwellah, a surveillance officer, both attached to UNBS Mbarara regional office.

The suspects were later arraigned before the Anti-Corruption court Grade one magistrate Moses Nabende on two charges of corruption.

Court heard that on August 6, 2020, the two officials while at Mukamanayamba factory, Kibutama branch in Kabwohe in Sheema district, directly solicited and obtained a bribe of Shs 3 million from the factory branch manager,  a question remaining unanswered is whether the factory in Gulu has been operating under UNBS’s corruption mechanism.
