The latest coming in from the region ”full of milk and honey” indicates that parents, students and teachers at Mbarara Secondary School in Mbarara City are in tears after a mega fire that broke out Friday morning in one of the dormitories leaving multimillion property in ash state.
According to school administrators, the fire razed Nyerere House, a boys’ dormitory that houses 78 senior one and senior two students. All students were at the time on assemble for an administrative address.
The police spokesperson Rwizi Region-Samson Kasasira says police fire brigade was able to get there in time and extinguished the fire stopping it from spreading to other nearby dormitories.
“Some of the property that includes books, mattresses and beddings were totally destroyed by the fire but fortunately no student was injured in the fire,” says Kasasira.
He adds, ”Inquiries into the matter are ongoing to establish the cause of the fire.”
Meanwhile, TheSpy Uganda has learnt that day students have been sent back home to help de-congest the school for safety purposes.
