Sheema: Authorities in Kabwohe division led by the town clerk Dennis Mubangizi on Wednesday closed all rentals in Kabwohe town, Sheema municipality which were found without toilets.
She added that “My job is to collect money from them and I take it to the owner without evening getting off a single coin. I’m going nowhere, do what you want. If you’re to close the rooms, lock them. If you’re to chase the tenants, do it as well but I can’t go with you to police, to do what? ”
More than 30 tenants were forced by the authorities to pack their things and vacate the houses they have been renting for years without toilets.
The most affected tenants have been renting Badru Ssentamu’s houses . When the tenants were forced to vacate their rentals, they decided to call their custodian a one Miss Jainah, who came in a high gear and started exchanging words with the authorities, telling them that no one has a right to arrest her because she isn’t the landlord.
“You’re arresting me as who?By the way I’m not the landlady: these people have their own landlord although I’m their caretaker.”Janiah said.
The authorities ordered Jainah to first refund the tenants their August salary but she refused, saying that no one had paid yet.
She later accepted that her tenants smoke marijuana and abuse other drugs hence they had to be evicted.

Town clerk Mubangizi said that these tenants due to lack of toilets, have been easing themselves using polythene bags and throwing them everywhere they find.
“It is alleged that during day time, they use polythene bags to ease themselves and then throw them way may be at night. What makes matters worse is to dump them in neighbors’ corridors and urinals. One of Badru’s neighbors was trying to build a permanent toilet but he couldn’t finish it because as soon as they started building it, these tenants started using it before it was even roofed and the builders were chansed by the bad smell. ”
However the tenants defended themselves saying that the authorities know those who throw feaces in neighbors corrlidors but they keep quiet.
We tried to talk to custodian about the matter but she told us that all their tenants have toilets and that some of them do it intentionally by not defecate in toilets. However, the toilets are one and a half kilometers from the houses they rent.
When things got ough, the tenants locked the houses and ran away from the authorities.
That prompted the town clerk to order for locking of the houses until further notice.
