State House handed over a brand new Toyota Landcruiser G-R Sport to the Bishop of the Diocese of Kigezi, Rt Rev. Gaddie Akanjuna, to facilitate him in his pastoral and evangelism work.

The brand new vehicle was delivered at the Bishop’s residence on Rugarama hill in Kabale town by the State House Comptroller, Ms. Jane Barekye, who thanked the leadership of Kigezi Diocese for being patient as they waited for the vehicle which was a Presidential gift to Bishop Akanjuna at his consecration ceremony that was held at Lower playground in Kabale town on May 29.

“His Excellency President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on May 29 gave a gift of a vehicle to the Bishop of Kigezi Diocese, Rt. Rev. Gaddie Akanjuna, but we later established that it could not manage climbing the hills of Kigezi. It is because of this reason that President Museveni decided to import this brand new and strong Toyota Land Cruiser specifically for the Bishop of Kigezi to facilitate his pastoral work. His Excellency thanks you for the patience exhibited,” Ms. Barekye said.

The Head of the Laity for Kigezi Diocese, Rev. Canon Johnson Baryantuma Munono, and the head of the clergy in the same diocese, Rev. Canon. Reuben Byomuhangi, together with Bishop Akanjuna thanked President Museveni for fulfilling his pledge and promised to continue supporting his able leadership that has created development in Uganda.

“As the Diocese of Kigezi, we are very grateful to President Museveni for fulfilling his pledge. We shall use the donated vehicle not only for evangelism and pastoral work but to mobilise the community to engage in the different Government programs aimed at poverty eradication such as the Parish Development Model,” Bishop Akanjuna said.

Bishop Akanjuna later handed back the Renault Koleos vehicle that had earlier been given to him to Ms. Barekye.
