President Yoweri Museveni on Thursday August 13, 2020, toured Nyanza Textiles Limited, where he hailed the proprietors of the factory for boosting government’s fight against Coronavirus (COVID-19) by making millions of masks for Ugandans.
Commenting about his fruitful visit to the factory in the heart of Jinja town, Museveni wrote thus on Social media; “I toured Nyanza Textile Industries (Nytil), in Jinja. The proprietors are doing a great job, in response to the #Covid19 pandemic, they are producing Personal Protective gear for the medical personnel; hazmart suits, disposable caps, disposable gowns, disposable shoe covers, surgical masks.
This is in addition to military, medical and school uniform apparels. All of this is from a correct decision to involve a private investor, that we made in 1994 after attempts to revive the company under government were failed by wrong elements within the implementation chain.”
He added that; “We are now looking at helping them export after satisfying the local market.
Therefore, we shall not take kindly to anybody that attempts to compromise our progress and plans. At 45 million people, Uganda has potential to grow this sector.”
