President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has Friday hosted the Archbishop of Canterbury, His Eminence Justin Welby who is the head of the Anglican Church.
However, although President hosted the Archbishop of Canterbury at State House Entebbe, both leaders did not shake hands.
This is because the ministry of health on Friday issued a warning to all people in Uganda to avoid shaking hands, hugging and coming into physical contact with each other.
The Archbishop of Canterbury is the senior bishop and principal leader of the Church of England, the symbolic head of the worldwide Anglican Communion and the diocesan bishop of the Diocese of Canterbury. The current archbishop is Justin Welby, was enthroned at Canterbury Cathedral on 21 March 2013.
The Archbishop of Canterbury is in Uganda for the enthronement of newly consecrated Archbishop of Uganda His Eminence Stephen Kazimba Mugalu.
Archbishop Kazimba’s enthronement, which will take place on Sunday March 1, 2020 at St Paul’s Namirembe Cathedral, in Kampala, will be attended by several church and political leaders.
Among them will be 11 Archbishops from around the globe who include;.
They are Foley Beach, the Archbishop of the Anglican Church in North America, Justin Welby, Miguel Uchoa, the Archbishop of the Anglican Church in Brazil, Martin Nyaboho, the Archbishop of the Anglican Church of Burundi, Zacharie Masimango Katanda, the Archbishop of the Anglican Church of Congo and Jackson Ole Sapit, the Archbishop of the Anglican Church of Kenya, among others.
Archbishop Kazimba is replacing Archbishop Stanley Ntagali, whose tenure ended last year.
