Kampala: President Yoweri Museveni has expressed his heartfelt condolences to the family of former Prime Minister Apolo Robin Nsibambi, who passed away on Tuesday evening.
In a message he posted on his official social media platforms president Museveni wrote thus; “I have learnt of the untimely passing of the former Prime Minister, Prof Apolo Nsibambi. He was a true patriot and great academic. The country will miss him.”
Museveni added that “I have instructed Prime Minister Ruhakana Rugunda to lead a team that will ensure we give Prof Nsibambi a befitting send-off.” In the same vein, the Director of the Uganda Media Centre Ofwono Opondo, also issued a statement about Nsibambi’ s untimely demise. (https://www.adarsus.com/) In his statement, Opondo revealed that government will constitute a committee to arrange for the funeral and a detailed program for the burial will be issued after consultation with the deceased’s family.
According to family members in Bulange, Rubaga Division, Nsibambi succumbed to a longtime illness and a few days back was rushed to a top health facility in Kampala, but had been discharged after his health condition stabilizing. Nsibambi was a Prime Minister from April 5, 1999 until May 24 , 2011, replacing Premier Kintu Mukasa and was later succeeded by Amama Mbabazi.
