Museveni Retires Lt Gen Lutaaya From Airforce, Maj Gen Charles Okidi Takes Over As New Commander

H.E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni dubbed Commander in Chief of all armed forces has made changes in Uganda Peoples Defence Forces-Air Forces-TheSpy Uganda reports.

According to a tweet by UPDF spokesperson Felix Kulayigye, Museveni has promoted Maj General Charles Okidi to Lt General and appointed him Commander Air Forces. Also, Lt Col Stephen Kiggundu has been promoted to Brig General and appointed Deputy Commander Air Forces.

Okidi now replaces Lt Gen Charles Lutaaya who has been appointed senior presidential advisor on matters of Air Forces.

About Lt General Okidi

Major General (now Lt Gen) Charles Okidi, is a senior Ugandan military officer in the Uganda People’s Defence Force (UPDF). He served as the Chief of Staff of the UPDF Air Force, effective 11 December 2019. Before that, he was the Director Operations at the UPDF Air Force Headquarters at Entebbe.

Okidi serves as a long-term presidential pilot, concurrently with his military duties. He has previously served as the Air Force Wing Commander, Nakasongola Air Force Base. Before that, he was the Commander of the Air Fore Wing, Entebbe Air Force Base.

Prior to the above, he was a Squadron Commander and Officer Commanding Operations at Entebbe Air Force Wing.
