President Yoweri Museveni has ordered Twebaze Bemanya to leave the office of Administrator of Uganda Telecom (UTL).
Museveni directed Minister Kahinda Otafiire to find a replacement for Bemanya immediately after the expiry of Bemanya’s tenure on November 20th, 2019.
President Museveni issued the directive in a letter dated_November 9, 2019 which states thus;
“Gen. Kahinda OtafiireMinister of Justice and ConstitutionalAffairs
ADMINISTRATION OF UGANDA TELECOM
The above subject matter refers.
I have received your letter of 6th November, 2019, about the Administration of Uganda Telecom (UTL) whose contract is expiring but you want to renew the contract.
Mr. Bemanya is always in conflict with Minister Anite. Hon. Anite is one of our most active Baijukuru.
In the interest of cohesion get another Administrator. It is easier that way, Going on with endless tension is not good management.”
Anite and Bemanya have been bickering over the Administration of UTL for a long time, whereby whereas Anite wanted him out, ministers Otafiire and Matia Kasaija of Finance, with the support of Permanent Secretary Keith Muhakanizi wanted him to stay at UTL.
