RDC’s Letter Inviting Sembabule NRM Leaders For A Meeting With President

Although the letter does not clarify the meeting agenda, there is a prediction that the discussions may rotate on the last week’s violation incidents in Mawogola North Constituency Sembabule district that let to fights between the candidates, agents and their supporters.

It was in that regard that the party chairman President Museveni through the electoral commission Chairman Dr Tanga Odoi ordered the suspension of the elections till further notice.

The race in Mawogola North included Museveni’s younger brother Godfrey Aine Kaguta also known as Sodo against Shartis Musherure, a daughter to Foreign Affairs minister Sam Kahamba Kutesa and another candidate Salim Kisekka. The trio is fighting  to replace Sam Kutesa who is retiring from active politics.

The violences were not only cited in Mawogola North but also in West where the party electoral commission postponed the polls to allow investigations into acts of brutality and torture against one of the aspiring candidates.

This came after accusations by Hon.Hanifa Kawooya Bangirana that her opponent, Joseph Ssekabiito, the incumbent MP ordered his supporters to beat her up and left her near to death.
