Kampala: President Yoweri Museveni is set to address the nation tomorrow Tuesday June 9, 2020, as the country marks its 31st National Heroes Day Anniversary.Â
President Museveni will make a televised address while at state House Entebbe, since public gatherings were suspended due to the current COVID-19 lockdown.
Celebrations are meant to remember Ugandan heroes and heroines who have sacrificed their lives for their country, and will start at 9am. The speech will be broadcast live on TVs and radios.Â
This year’s Heroes’ day theme is ‘Celebrating a Memorable Day as we reflect on the selflessness of the heroes/heroines who put the nation above all else’.
“His Excellency will tomorrow, June 9th, preside over the National Heroes’ Day celebrations at State House Entebbe. The fete will be broadcast live on all TVs/radios starting 9am. Tune in” President’s press secretary Don Wanyama tweeted.
It should be remembered that last year’s Heroes Day celebrations were held in Kasanje town council in Wakiso district under the theme, Celebrating the courageous heroes that brought the peace and prosperity we are enjoying.
Some of the heroic values celebrated, according to the Minister for Presidency, Esther Mbayo, include proven integrity, patriotism and sacrifice, acts of bravery, setting a good example, truthfulness, and love for others.
