Fort portal: Tooro Kingdom royal member Ruth Kugonza Amooti Nyakairu aka Cox, 62, didn’t die of Covid-19, but asthma, that’s according to her daughter only identified as Beth.

TheSpy Uganda has learnt from Beth’s workmates at Kalya Courts Fort Portal where Beth works, that her mother has been asthmatic since childhood and finally succumbed to the same, contrary to earlier reports that she died of COVID-19.
“I think because of similar signs to COVID-19 (difficulty in breathing), that’s why some people rushed to unfounded conclusions,” Beth told her workmates on the phone who had called her to commiserate with her, that Spy Uganda’s Andrew Irumba interviewed at the Hotel 10minutes ago.

Veteran journalist and cousin brother to the late Andrew Mujuni Mwenda in his post this morning while breaking the bad news revealed that Cox had succumbed to the deadly virus, COVID-19.
“On Sunday, we lost a cousin, Margaret Kanyiginya to COVID-19. This morning, we have just lost yet another cousin, Cox, to Covid,” Mwenda tweeted.

COX’s death follows a couple of other deaths that have been attached to COVID-19 by the Ministry of Health with in the past few months noting the most recent of Kamuli Municipality Member of Parliament Rehema Watongola.
Watongola succumbed to the Covid-19 infection from Mulago National Referral hospital earlier this month where she had been admitted. Ministry of Health confirmed.

This becomes the second MP to succumb to the virus after Pallisa district Woman MP, Faith Alupo who passed on in September.

Watongola’s death also followed that of the Deputy Executive Director of the Uganda Media Centre, Col Shaban Bantariza who also succumbed to the deadly Coronavirus.
