Kampala: Gorgeous model Oliver Nakakande,24, is the new Miss Uganda, after being crowned by Miss World Vanessa Ponce on Friday, during an event that was held at Sheraton Hotel Gardens.
Nakakande now replaces Quiin Abenakyo, the reigning Miss World Africa and Miss Uganda 2018.
She was crowned a magnificent event that was attended by hundreds of people, who included Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga, Captain Mike Mukula, among others. The event that was hosted by TV star Anita Fabiola and radio presenter Dedan Muyiira had judges like zari Hassan, Sylvia Namutebi and others who pronounced the final winner after awarding points to each contestants.
Elizabeth Bagaya, 24, a make-up artist, was first runner-up while Mariam Nyamatte, 21, a marketer, was second runner-up.
The event, which started at about 9:00pm, was lit by glitz and glamour, especially by the contestants, who did the Catwalk in beautiful gowns done by stylist Tina Brad.
Nakakande went away with several prizes, among them a Toyota Wish car. Here are some of the snaps our spies got from the event;
