Jinja: Motor rally ace Duncan Mubiru aka Kikankane has Sunday bowed out of the Jinja Rally after ramming into fellow driver Godfrey Lubega during Stage Four.
Kikankane, who narrowly cheated death by whisker after the nasty accident, had to quit the race together with Lubega, because they had to undergo quick medical examinations to establish whether they had sustained any injuries, physical or internal.
Meanwhile, the rally drivers who claimed the day’s victory are Hassan Alwi/Joseph Kamya, Ponsiano Lwakataka/Paul Musaazi, and Arthur Blick/George Semakula.
However, the 2019 National Rally Champion Yasin Nasser and his 2018 predecessor Christakis Fitidis withdrew from the Rally, citing safety concerns.
That was after Yasin Nasser lost control of his car at the super special stage held in Jinja, ramming into spectators.
Meanwhile, Hassan Alwi took the lead on day one ahead of tycooon Dr.Sudhir Ruparelia’s son, Rajiv Ruparelia after he rammed into a sugar cane plantation, significantly affecting his chances of leading the race, although he later got unto the road and completed the lap.
