NBS Sport journalist Nina Kakwanzi has been named the Uganda Cricket Association Female Journalist of 2024, a remarkable achievement in her young career covering cricket.

This award celebrates her dedication and skill in spotlighting a sport that continues to grow in Uganda.

Having covered cricket for just a year, Kakwanzi’s passion and commitment have already left an indelible mark. Her standout moment came when she traveled with the Cricket Cranes to Namibia for the T20 World Cup Qualifiers.

“Watching the Cricket Cranes work hard to achieve the qualification was so inspiring. They finally did qualify, which hadn’t happened in over 20 years, and it made me very proud and honored to witness this in person,” she shared.

Her dynamic coverage of the qualifiers offered fans an intimate view of the team’s resilience and triumph, a reflection of her ability to bring the sport closer to audiences.
