Kampala: Gen.Yoweri Kaguta Museveni Tibuhaburwa the Commander in Chief of all armed forces has appointed Maj Gen Abel Kandiho as Chief of Joint Staff of Uganda Police Force

Maj Gen is replacing Maj Gen Jack Bakasumba who has been appointed the Ugandan Delegate to the South Sudan Peace Monitoring Mechanism where Kandiho was appointed recently.

President Museveni days ago removed Maj. General Abel Kandiho from heading the Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence (CMI) and replaced him with Maj Gen James Biriungi.

Military sources confirmed to our reporter that Rwandan President Paul Kagame demanded that President Museveni fires his top security chiefs, including Kandiho as part of the conditions for normalizing relations between the two countries.

He was replaced three days after President’s son Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the Land Forces Commander, returned from Rwanda where he held a closed-door meeting with President Paul Kagame.

Now, Kandiho joins a group of other UPDF officers deployed in the Police.

Others are; Maj Gen Geoffrey Tumusiime Katsigazi-Deputy Inspector General of Police, Brig Sserunjogi Ddamulira (Police Crime Intelligence Director), Col. Jesse Kamunanwire (Police Director for Human Resource Administration) and Brig Geoffrey Golooba (Police Director for Human Resource Development and Training).
