Entebbe: Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga was Saturday October 26, 2019 awarded a honorary doctorate of law by Nkumba University during its 22nd graduation ceremony.
Some of the other key graduands were; Al-Hajji Kadu Kiberu, who a senior official of the Mengo establishment and one of the pioneers of Masaza Cup tournament, among other projects in Buganda.
Nkumba University’s 22 Graduation ceremony was under the theme ’25 Years of Academic Excellence and Professionalism.
At least 1367 students graduated in various disciplines with that included Doctorates, Masters, Bachelors, Diplomas, plus Certificates in business administration, education humanities and Sciences, nursing and hospitality among others.
While receiving the doctorate, Kadaga said; “I express my gratitude towards the government of Uganda for liberalising education”.
In her speech she said, “If Nkumba was not in place many Ugandans and foreigners would not have had the chance to access education at this university which started as a small nursery school.”
She added that “Graduands should make use of what they have learned and not only look for jobs but also make them.”
The Vice Chancellor of the University Professor Wilson Muyinda Mande, urged graduands to be focused enough to join people who are already in the working field.
He said that “Demonstrate the academic excellence you have acquired from here to perform all your roles wherever you find yourself professionally.”
He urged them to exhibit high levels of competence, confidence, creativity and character in all aspects of their lives.
