Nnabagereka of Buganda, Sylvia Nagginda has urged all government leaders who are in charge of a national budget to stop politicalizing health funds because it’s an issue that affects all Ugandans.
While speaking at the requiem mass service of her dad, John Lutwaama Ssebugwaawo at Namirembe Cathedral,the Buganda queen advised government to add more funds in the health sector so that people can be treated. “I want to applaud all these medical workers in Uganda. With their little funds, they have decided to remain here and work on Ugandans when their demand is too high abroad,” she said.
Nagginda went on to tell the mourners that her dad died of kidney and heart failure, a disease she said needs heavy treatment and funding.
She revealed that her father worked for unity,love and was one of the scrupulous men in Uganda .
Due to busy schedule, the Kabaka of Buganda was represented by Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga who thanked God for the life he gave to Papa Luswata.
The service was led by Bishops Luwalira Kityo , Henry Tamale Katumba and Edward Nsubuga who all prayed and requested God to receive him in everlasting life.
Some of the prominent people that attended the service included Hajji Kakungulu, Minister for Kampala Betty Kamya,Janat Mukwaya, Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago among other leaders from Buganda Kingdom.
Mr Luswata was born on August 22, 1938 to Mr Nelson Ssebugwaawo Luswata and Ms Catherne Namayenze Luswata.
He left Sylvia Nagginda, Nelson Kikubira Luswata, Barbara Mbaliwowere Mutengu Luswata, Juliet Namagga Luswata Kinalwa, John Mulumba Luswata and Patrick Nsubuga.
He studied at Kings College Budo between 1946 and 1955 before joining Kyambogo Technical College where he attained qualification in Electrical Engineering. He later joined Holborn Technical College in Central London, United Kingdom.
He worked in the field of electrical engineering in the ministry of works in Buganda Kingdom, Otis Company-England and Uganda Ministry of health serving as a chief electrical engineer and a superintendent of works at Mulago hospital.
Luswata retired from Mulago hospital in 1984 and went into farming and business establishing a prominent restaurant, JEB that he operated for 25 years with his wife.
