Day after RwandAir halted its flights to Uganda, Saudi Arabia has warned its citizens against travelling to the Pearl of Africa amid a rise in the number of cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the East African nation.
The Saudi Embassy in the Ugandan capital, Kampala, said the health crisis in the country had worsened and advised people from the Kingdom not to visit for the time being.
This came after Uganda’s Ministry of Health announced that results of COVID-19 tests done on 09 June 2021 confirmed 1,566 new cases shooting the cumulative confirmed cases to 58,515.
The breakdown of the new cases are: 1,566 contacts and Alerts: Kampala (998) Wakiso (135) Luwero (105) Masaka (68) Mbarara (37) Arua (24) Tororo (26) Mukono (18) Budaka (15) Gulu (14) Nebbi (13) Busia (10) Kiryandongo (9) Jinja (8) Zombo (8) Yumbe (8) Kisoro (7) Kaliro (6).
