President Yoweri Museveni has revealed that the peace and stability that was brought by the National Resistance Movement (NRM) government has enabled artistes to nurture and develop their talents, while making money to fight poverty.
Museveni made these remarks on Friday evening at theater LA Bonita, where he had gone to attend a function at which popular drama group The Ebonies boss and actor Sam Bagenda aka Dr Bbosa, was celebrating 33 years as an actor.
While commenting about the event, Museveni wrote on social media that; “Before many of you, Bazukulu, were born, Sam Bagenda alias Dr. Bbosa, was already on the silver screen and on stage entertaining Ugandans.
I was honoured to officiate at his show as he marked 33 years of serving Ugandans through talent.”
He added that “With peace ushered in by the NRM, people are bound to exhibit talents in all aspects; preachers will preach, actors will act, artistes will compose and sing, farmers will flourish in fields, herders will tend, everyone will get chance to showcase their God-given talent.”
The President later donated Shs100m to the Ebonies which will help start up a SACCO to fight poverty among the young actors and actresses.
Among the notable guests at the event was top Buganda Prince David Wasajja, who sat with President Museveni in the VIP section.
