Kampala: Uganda Police Force has finally spoken out on the health of its Inspector General, Martin Okoth Ochola, revealing that he is battling with hypertension that rose from the sad news of the sudden death of his deputy IGP Paul Lokech.
It’s worth noting that for a couple of months, reports have been unveiling that the Police boss’ health is ill whereas others have been claiming that he is on oxygen something Force’s spokesperson Fred Enanga has responded to thus;
”Please disregard rumours circulating on social media claiming that the IGP, is hospitalised and on oxygen. Much as the IGP, developed a bit of hypertension, after hearing with shock, the sudden demise of his former Deputy, Lt.Gen. Paul Lokech, his condition was not life-threatening, after it was effectively managed by both his Personal Doctor and the Police Surgeon.”
Enanga in a statement adds that the IGP is not hospitalised as claimed in certain media circles. ”He is in good condition, with a back to normal pressure level and has been working throughout the month of September.”
Due to unstable health, Ochola missed the burial for his fallen deputy Maj Gen Paul Lockech and was represented by Police joint chief of staff Brig-Gen Jackson Bakasamba.
Police spokesperson, Fred Enanga, said that Ochola couldn’t attend the burial because of health-related complications.
“The IGP is not here but he is represented because his pressure levels were not okay and the medics advised him to take a rest but he had earlier visited and consoled the family,” Enanga told the mourners then.
