Odongtho’s Resignation Saga From NBS TV Takes Ugly Twist, Journalist To Face Disciplinary Committee

By Spy Uganda

Popular journalist Charles Odongtho’s resignation from NBS TV, where he has been hosting the Frontline political talkshow, has taken an ugly twist after his exit was rejected by Management of Next Media Group, on grounds that he has to first face the Disciplinary Committee.

Insiders at the Media Plaza reveal that the company Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Kin Kariisa on Monday rejected receipt of Odontho’s resignation letter, noting that he still had matters to sort out in regard to his performance vis-à-vis company goals and objectives.

The Disciplinary Committee meeting sitting to review his matter is slated for today Tuesday 2:00 pm.

It is said that due to his declining performance, failure to cordially work with production teams and failure to satisfactorily meet the Group Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), which Kariisa enforces very strictly, management referred Odongtho’s case to the Group Disciplinary Committee before whose members he was supposed to account for his actions and omissions.

We are told one of the complicating realities was the fact that the Frontline host often disagreed with and ignored input by producers of his show.

It is also alleged that he was often contemptuous of the team hired by management to produce his show, which created bad blood that culminated into his exit, after he complained of  a poisoned work environment.

“The DC Disciplinary Committee meeting is on Tuesday at 2:00 pm and he is expected to appear there in person and respond to performance-related complaints against him.

In the meantime, his resignation remains rejected because we aren’t accepting it until after the DC disciplinary procedures are exhaustively administered upon him during tomorrow’s session,” a Spy at NBS TV intimated to this Website.

However, it should be noted that chief amongst the reason Odongtho fronted for his resignation is the lack of a free and fair working environment, which has seen the people on his team dictate who should be and shouldn’t be hosted on the show.
