Operation Shujaa: UPDF Kills Two, Discovers Killer Machines-Kulayigye

On November 30, 2021, the Congolese army (FARDC) and the Ugandan military (UPDE) launched joint operations in the Beni territory of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) against the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF), an armed group that originated in Uganda but has operated in eastern Congo since the mid-nineties.

Since then, Uganda People’s Defense Force’s Spokesperson Felix Kulayigye says there have been various victories and achievements towards the goals of Operation Shujaa.

He says yesterday UPDF had contact with the enemy and killed two of them and recovered items like; Guns- 02, Ammunition -28, Walkie Talkies – 02, Generator – 01, Solar Panel -01, E.A Passport in the names of Monde Kasimu Muhanda of Tanzania, DRC National ID belonging to Yuma Malipeka Kibamba, Voice tracker with a memory card – 01, Telephone Sets- 03 and one FARDC Uniform.

He says ADF and Islamic State Central Africa Province (ISCAP) terrorists are still maintaining concentration of their forces in Irumu territory, Mambasa territory, Beni Territory and Rwenzori sector.

”Finally, I wish to reiterate the commitment of the UPDF to continue working alongside FARDC to flush these terrorists out of the region and bring lasting peace to the DRC and the region at large,” says Kulayigye.
