Sheema: Cabinet Minister for Justice and Constitutional Affairs Prof. Ephraim Kamuntu, who doubles as Sheema South Member of Parliament, has urged the public to ignore misleading information from opposition politicians, whom he said are aware of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) achievements but pretend not to be aware.
Kamuntu said this while commissioning a power supply sub-station in Kyarushakaara ward, Kitagata Town Council, Sheema district. He said even his opponents are busy enjoying services he has delivered to their homes, work places and business premises but surprisingly, when they go out in the public, they say that he hasn’t done anything, yet over 92% of Sheema South has electricity, 85% water supply, all sub-counties have a government secondary School, health centres, among others.
“Boy Oh boy! People are confusing. I found them without electricity, which they had failed to lobby for when they were Members of Parliament. I brought it to them and now they are lighting their homes and businesses. They are enjoying water which I brought but you hear them saying that I should go because I have done nothing. But I know that they know the truth in their hearts and they just can’t reveal it,” he said.
He added; “Others are misleading people that Kamuntu is old, eeeeh! What’s wrong with being old? A woman peeped at a co-wife’s things and she said that ‘Leaving alone malice, you’re better than me; the same applies to our opponents. They know that we have achieved a lot but can’t openly say or admit it.”
Kamuntu urged voters to always vote for someone who is famous in both government and private offices, instead of those who will first introduce themselves to officers to be recognized.
“You should vote for a leader who knocks and they open a door for him or her but not those who will knock and have to first introduce themselves,” he said.
It should be noted that Minister Kamuntu is likely to face his strongest rivals in the 2021 elections who include Prof. Elijah Dickens Mushemeza and Eng. Yorokamu Katwiremu Bategana, both former Sheema South Members of parliament, plus youthful politician Nickson Banduho Tugume, since all have already shown interest in contesting and are usually seen doing grass root campaigns (Kakuyege) among voters in Sheema.
