Over 1Million Registers For Final Exams At All Levels As UNEB Closes Registration

A total of one million, two hundred seventy nine thousand, nine hundred and sixty two (1,279,962) candidates have registered for all the three levels of the final examinations. This was by the time of closure for the late registration of candidates that ended at the midnight hour of June 30th 2022.

According to Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB), of the registered candidates, six hundred and forty seven thousand, eight hundred twenty eight (647,828); 51%, are females, while six hundred thirty two, one hundred and thirty four (632,134); 49%, are males.

At Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) level, the candidature stands at 832,702, as compared to 767,110 in 2020. Of those registered for PLE, 432,851 are females (52%), while 399,851 (48%) are males.

For the Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE), a total of 349, 324 candidates have registered. These include 174,158 (49.9%) females, and 175,166 (50.1%6) males.

At the higher level of Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE), total candidature stands at 97,936. Of these, 40,819 (41.7%) are females, while 57, 117 ,(58.3%) are males.

In terms of funding 715,360 (56%) of all the candidates are funded by the government, while 564,602 (4496) are privately sponsored. These include 583,763 candidates sponsored by government at PLE level and 248,039 privately sponsored.

At lower secondary school level- UCE- 114,260 candidates are funded by government under the Universal Secondary Education (USE) program, while 235,064 candidates are privately sponsored.

At UACE level, 17,337 candidates are funded by government under the Universal Post-0′ Level Education and Training Program (UPOLET), while 80,599 are privately sponsored.
