Ever since COVID-19 outbreak was declared in Uganda in March 2020, a couple of Ugandans have died among them including servants of God.
Among the many servants of God who have died from the disease include;
1. Fr. George William Mugenyi – Diocese of Fort Portal
2. Msgr. Etienne Onega – Nebbi Catholic Diocese
3. Fr. Anthony Zachary Rweza – Diocese of Jinja
4. Fr. Boniface Muhumuza – Archdiocese of Mbarara
5. Fr. Basil Katabi – Kiyinda-Mityana Diocese
6. Fr. Christopher Mutsinzi – Masaka Diocese
7. Fr. Joseph Kasule – born in Mityana and incardinated in a diocese in Colombia.
Meanwhile, as we report this, it is said that Mrs. Muhindo Valeria from Kabale who dubbles to be the mother of the Executive Secretary of Uganda Joint Christian Council [UJCC] is critically ill from the same disease.
In the same vein, the Ministry Of Health has announced that results of COVID-19 tests done on 16 June 2021 confirmed 1,564 new cases bringing the cumulative confirmed cases to 68,779.
The breakdown of the new cases are: 1,558 Contacts and Alerts: Kampala (784) Wakiso (164) Mpigi (107) Gulu (61) Kasese (59) Tororo (42) Mbarara (33) Arua (24) Masaka (21) Kayunga (20) Yumbe (20) Luwero (18) Zombo (18) Soroti (17) Jinja (14) Butaleja (17) Iganga (11), Kyotera (10) Mukono (10) Masindi (9) Kiryandongo (8) Bukomansimbi (8) Adjumani (8) Packwach (6) Moyo (6) Kisoro (4)
Others are; Namayingo (4) Kanungu (4) Rukungiri (4) Kumi (4) Koboko (3) Mbale (2) Hoima (2) Omoro (2) Busia (2) Mukono (2) Maracha (2) Kyegegwa (1) Mbale (1) Amuru (2), Buikwe (1) Kitgum (1) Kyankwanzi (1) Buliisa (1) Kikuube (1) Kasese (5) Nakaseke (1) 6 Truck Drivers: Mutukula (3) Elegu (2) Kampala (1).
