Panicky Moment: Kenyan Electoral Commission To Announce Final Presidential Results Today!

The Kenyan electoral commission said it will announce final results of the presidential election at 3pm Monday.

The results will be announced by the Chairman of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) who is the Returning Officer of the Presidential election.

Preliminary results the Kenyan Electoral commission so far show Deputy President William Ruto who was running on a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ticket is the winner, followed by Raila Odinga of the Azimio La Umoja coalition based on a tally so far released by the commission and other independent institutions like the media.

Security is heightened at the Bomas of Kenya and various strategic locations in the capital Nairobi as well as other parts of the country ahead of the final declaration.

The long wait for the results is Kenya’s first in her history of elections, after the Supreme Court while handling a presidential petition in 2017 affirmed that the validation exercise is mandatory before making the final declaration.

Meanwhile, IEBC has declared that Senator Johnson Sakaja has won the Nairobi Governor seat after garnering 699,392 votes (56 percent) defeating his main rival Polycarp Igathe (41 percent of Jubilee who got 573,518 votes.
